Inside Somalia
Part III: People of a City at War

September 2010. As daily battles continue across Mogadishu with African Union and Somali government troops slowly clawing back territory from extremists, a population lives with the constant threat of being caught in the fighting.

The front-line snakes its way through one-time residential suburbs of Mogadishu now all but bereft of people. Houses and compounds deserted, their owners given to flight, escaping the fighting and strict and brutal existence under the draconian and violent rule of Al Shabaab.

Behind either side of the line, those that haven't sought shelter from the conflict on the outskirts of the city continue with there lives.

Together with the soldiers of the African Union, government forces, the men women and children of Mogadishu are the people of a city at war.
